Second beta version of ALT Linux Castle distribution has been released 
on June, 6th, 2001.

Major changes since beta 1:

+ Packaging errors were fixed for various programs. Dependencies on 
XFree86 have been eliminated or reduced to the minimal need.

+ Packages with potential security holes were replaced by more secure 
counterparts. In particular, proftpd has been deleted and replaced by 
ftpd-BSD and libra.

+ Numerous changes over all distribution in order to rise security of 
supported services. Integration of several ideas from Openwall Linux 
project <http://www.openwall.com/Owl/>.

+ New RSBAC version has been integrated.

+ Security constraints for base configuration have been tighten up.

+ System administrator and security officer now use POSIX locale, as 
well as all system services.

+ Apache web server has been updated to 1.3.20 and mod_ssl 2.8.4. This 
includes bug fixes for HTTPS support.

+ PHP 4.0.6 Release candidate 2 has been integrated. PHP 4.0.6 RC2 in 
ALT Linux Castle supports Blowfish algorithm for cryptography and 
password hashing by default.

+ Glibc 2.2.2 and GCC 2.96 support has been improved for GateD 3.6 and 
advanced routing services.
