Last night, on my way home, I realized I had been looking for the deadlock at
the wrong place. Today I will work on a solution which will hopefully avoid
them without introducing new problems.

So, those who had mount time lockups, please be patient - I will put up a pre7
as soon as the new code seems to run stable.
